I already blocked these, so i can't try clicking, but i do think everything (including tray icon) is hover only and these Plume accounts only shows "Pushed to us" - exactly as screenshot is showing
It makes me wonder how it gets "pushed to us", these accounts are just random spambots in the Fediverse.
Even if your instance isn't connected to a relay, if the message relay scope setting is set to something other than "disabled" then some instances will take that as an invitation to send you things.
I noticed the same kind of thing after trying out relays a month or two ago. No relays were connected, but I still had the scope set to "all", so I was getting random posts from an instance in Russia until I disabled it. Once the sending instance detected the changed setting, it stopped.
@Schmaker strange, but then maybe the relay function transferred it to your server when relay was active on your end? Is citemanwork on a system that has direct relaying?
As soon as you start an interaction with someone on another server (i.e. by subscribing to them), their instance will discover that you exist, and thus will broadcast the articles from its feed to you. You will then be able to see those in your federated feed.
So maybe they just send all comtent after one interaction of one user?
Besides that it is hard to find any information about plume, seems the name is not really a good search term.
I think ActivityPub forsees to have not addressed posts, I think something with post box 0 or so. But this question is something someone like Heluecht has to answer.
@Schmaker I think the direct relay is only the transfer from your server to others.
If the setting is all, it means your server publishes by webfinger (I think that does do it), that it wants to receive all post no matter which tags are included in the posts. I am not sure if your server filters itself if the scope is user tags, but then a list of tags is published. See my server if you want, I think I gave user tags and scope is tags.
@Brian S. @Schmaker good point, direct relay will always be active even if no relay is configured. And the screenshot of the post above has the tray symbol, so that would fit I think.

Okay, I got direction to go now. I used to be subscribed to relay, but am not anymore.
Thank you.

@Hypolite Petovan Is this expected behavior?

•@Schmaker citemanwork is another user? Did citemanwork interact with the post?
I can not hoover over or click the tray symbol, doesn't work on my mobile phone.

Citemanwork is "user" commenting the post, but nobody on my instance (single-user instance) ever interacted with citeman

That does not seem to make sense to me. My instance should not take random posts from random servers I'm not interacting with.
At least i thought so...

•@Schmaker But what are the settings for relaying?

Not sure how "user tags" are used, they are enabled
Direct communication without relay server disabled

User tags are saved searches for tags.

•@Schmaker it is intended and I wonder if your public timeline is full with posts that come in without reasons (actually by the relay function).
But interesting question about the relay function, if disabling direct relay, will it also disable inbound relay function?
