Uh ho. I was catching up with my mentions during a long train ride and I just found a series of truly abusive replies with threats, horrible, violent language, swastikas (!!!) all coming from the same instance. One even included a violent video showing a woman being harmed.
I took screenshots before blocking.
How does #FediBlock work? And how do you block entire instances when you are on mobile? (Traveling for the next few days).
The instance these messages came from is truly truly bad, I feel like they should be called out and blocked en masse 😰
Update: it’s more than one instance. I’ve found additional abusive messages with violent and racist, misogynistic rhetoric, from 5-6 different instances. It’s like I have 4Chan in my mentions. Screenshot + block 🔁
Update no.2: thank you for your suggestions! See, I’m the admin of this instance, so I can just copy and paste the names of the abusive instances in my GoToSocial dashboard and easily block them on the spot. Still, I’ll make sure to mention these abusive instances to FediBlock. It’s the first time I’m the target of abuse and these messages were really awful. Now if you could send me photos of your cute pets, you’d do me a favor.
Update no.3: success! Even if I’m on a train traveling across countries and on my iPad, I was able to log onto my GoToSocial admin dashboard… and start blocking entire domains. Self-hosting is truly the most empowering thing 🥲

Seirdy's FediNuke is the bare minimum worst-of-the-worst-of-the-worst (including poa.st) so if I were you I would upload that right away. Seirdy's Tier0 has noticeably more instances and is designed to be reviewed before using, although in a situation like this when you're under attack it might be worth just doing it.

If you can't manage to download and upload the files onto an iPad, another option is to just cut-and-paste seirdy.one/pb/FediNuke.txt (which has the simplest format) into the "Domains (newline-separated)" field on the import-export page, and then click on Import. I did this on an iPhone when I was setting up my GtS instance and it worked okay!

It happened under my post as well as it somehow managed to get viral and theze nazis started organizing to break the discussion.
I first reacted by redacting them one by one. As single-user instance I was literally overwhelmed by reactions from pretty much same instances over and over again. As this literally ment, that my instance is now spreading nazi bullshit around the fediverse because of these commenters I had to start blocking the instances.
It did not felt like winning though as I had few guys with constructive arguments to talk with from these instances as well.
Tops I reached for like 1-1,5k comments there. Ridiculous and stressing situation...

you have the hashtag # fediblock
next you name the domains so others can block as well (but not in url form, in the form of "mastodon . social" for example so you don't generate a link in your comment)
some people post screenshots, others don't, depends upon the need to substantiate a claim, but what you're saying it sounds so toxic no one would have any doubt
nobody links to the comments, that's inviting engagement, nobody wants that

Then you go somewhere without your laptop, passwords, tools, the docs; and it all goes down the sink
