As a part of this socially-asocial #Fediverse network I would like to talk to you on the other side of the ocean.
I rarely write posts in #English and I only have very few followers that are not #Czech or #Slovakian, so I'm not sure if this ever reaches my target audience of this post - the #USA citizens.
I am seriously concerned about what is happening lately with your country, who was supposed to be (or was acting like) a #democracy beacon. Yet, somehow you managed to reach the point, where #president, who most of you (!) elected is felon, who pardons criminals and does pretty rude political statements to country, who is losing lives of it's citizens only because they have chosen the path of being a #free nation.
As a person from central #EU I must admit this is seriously hard to watch as I expected your society to be #freedom and #liberty friendly and yet I see your president fueling #propaganda from #Russia and bullying president of #Ukraine.
I do not think this is a great way to #StopWar - this is a way to lose it. I'm hell-of-a-sure that befriending pretty much dictator of #Russia while his propagandists talks about nuking Washington is not a good idea, but somehow your president believes it is.
Please reconsider and act, this is not funny and people are dying. Your voices need to be heard or somehow you might find out you live in country you never imagined...

Actually - I do not consider US a threat to Europe or Europe being a vassal of theirs. What I do consider dangerous is Trumps administrative.

Even spending more on defence came with a "but not on YOUR industry" disclaimer and a phone call to Warsaw, Berlin or Copenhagen to block funny 🇪🇺 autonomy ideas was usually enough.

still wrong
politicians' blabbing and posturing does not constitute a threat
the word "threat" in a headline does not constitute an actual threat.
When the United States wants to threaten another nation, it stations one of its aircraft carriers and associated battle group off of their coast, and conducts military exercises designed to probe their defensive posture. Or some such similar deployment of actual military forces.
IceCubeSoup
in reply to IceCubeSoup • • •@slamy
precisely zero has occurred with U.S. military posture vis-à-vis Denmark or Canada. There has been exactly no change whatsoever.
But congratulations for taking a silly and alarmist headline from the mainstream media seriously.
Schmaker
in reply to IceCubeSoup • •Yeah, except for leader of USA threatening with using military force.
I don't care if it's silly talks or not - it's still a threat.
I remember good old days when Putler was just a threatening UA and everybody laughed that it's a bullshit, until it wasnt anymore...
IceCubeSoup
in reply to Schmaker • • •@slamy
nobody important was laughing. All insiders knew the threat was real, which is why they spent a more than a decade deliberately provoking Putin. Putin finally found himself in a circumstance where he was forced to cooperate in the charade.
Ukraine is the victim in a three way tug-of-war between the U.S., EU/NATO, and Russia. They were always, always, always destined to be used up and discarded, after being rubble-ized.
IceCubeSoup

Russian forces have always been near Ukraine. That's what having a border means. Which means Russia was always an actual threat to Ukraine.

If you read American #history, neither was it created to promote #democracy. It was created as an #aristocracy - where only white, male landowners could vote.
They chose independence from #Britain in opposition to the king's land decree of 1763, where any land farther west in the colonies had to be brought from the crown.
(It wasn't for reasons in their fairytales about democracy and "taxation without representation". They pay a level of magnitude more to #Washington now!)
Then it just expanded in worldwide influence you imply through cancerous growth of their #DeepState bureaucracy, fueled by a continent full of productive land and resources expropriated from the #American natives still living in the Stone Age then.
Read about the history of cronyism and graft there from the #Founders throughout, and you'll see that your view and expectations of #Americans and their gangsterment are unfounded.
An admirable trait and ideal of American culture more developed than elsewhere, is self-sufficiency.
It's time to return to that ideal in #Europe also! A start would be to eject from power the collectivists and socialists ruling from #Brussels #EU.💡

First of all the lie thingy - as a man, who was manipulated by media and algorithms for ages I mostly do background checks to find out why people do what they do, so I of course found the whole meeeting footage, that was of course freely available to watch. I so far got impression that this all was staged to bully him and it worked exactly as expected. Actually - I had this feeling even before this meeting was announced.
The later part - US president is voted by whole country - that's the worrisome. Yes, I can understand people do vote for somebody purely focused on national profit and consider this as a legitimate interest of voter. What I do not consider this way is, when the leader threatens neighbours about seizing lands, bans words or whatever stuff like this. Not only that - your president continously lie and to me - on the other side of the ocean - it seems like for some reason you don't care you guys are not allies, but threat to the world.
To be clear - I do not consider Biden to be so much better - he was just an really overaged man to do the job and unlike Trump - he was really slow to do any decisions. But to me it seems (not saying it must be true) that you're on the wrong road at this moment.

Now, for the Czech government - women in my country have hard times to do politics because our politicians made it so unfriendly to them, that they cannot actually combine politics and family. All because of having possibility of obstructions in parliament, that basically means that one speaker talks even for more than 10 hours and blocks ruling ability of the government. I consider this wrong, but we never reached agreement between oposition and government to have this fixed. Sadly.
Anyways, back to the US politics I'd definitely could not vote for someone who's acting as a threat even to their allies while constantly lying about pretty much everything.
How is this possible to you to be fine with it?

And calling Trump a felon sets the tone for a conversation that turns into people calling each other retarded. Nelson Mandela was a convicted felon; it means nothing. Trump is lying when he says Ukraine started the war.
The US was the initial aggressor in this war and the only reason there is a war now. The US war on Russia through Ukraine is primarily aimed at looting and subjugating Europe, cutting them off from Russian energy to starve them to death. "It may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal."
You should be angry with the country who blew up Nord Stream and you should want them out of Europe permanently, regardless of who the actor playing the President is.

Can you elaborate this a little more? I'm interested in your point of view as rest of this paragraph quite makes sense, only the aggressor thingy does not seem to make sense to me.
Someone may be, but I'm personally grateful to whoever done that. EU decided to take their good old superslow approach to getting away from Russian fossil energy and funding the killing of Ukrainians is not a good way to help defending country in this war.
Unlike lot of people I do not consider this an American proxy war, instead I consider this war a way free countries try to tell Russia "no, you can't do what you want to, we arent your satellites anymore"

Actually - I have the feeling that for some reason both people of color and whities confused it in USA. Being criminal should have same consequences for black or white, rich or poor and even though society is not really always successful in it, it should keep on trying.
If you talk about Ukraine war, then you propably should look at what Budapest memorandum was supposed to mean.
If Americans made it this far, then I pretty much understand the hatred it caused. Care to elaborate?

Not really .. Russians wanted to make these horrible crimes from the linked video all over Ukraine. in reply to PostNeoLudite • •I'd definitely love to talk about real arguments instead, but I definitely won't do it with guy who only offends with (paraphrasing) "you're stupid, lying, everybody lies and you didn't did anything" as these aren't backed by anything and wasting time with trolls - as long as internet exists - never worked.
If you want to discuss arguments - you're free to go on, I'm in
