I don't have the time and energy to read and accept 110 pages(!) on data privacy, but hereby I want to encourage the EU to continue and expand their use of Mastodon and the Fediverse.
I would love to see the EU facilitate instances for local and country governments so they can increase their presence on mastodon and keep us informed.
Also a way to reach out with concerns and ideas on topics that matter to us.
In May, the European Commission proposed a new law: the CSA Regulation. If passed, this law would turn the internet into a space that is dangerous for everyone’s privacy, security and free expression.
For EU supporters it is even more important to stop this. And if we are to believe in EU as some kind of a democratic body it must be possible to stop it.
People outside of the EU may laugh at this, they may find it funny that EU countries are making fools out of themselves. But for us within the EU, this is very serious.
Infringing on fundamental rights like this is would be a reason to leave the EU. I want to live in a free society respecting human rights.
@afarquia_onion Every single country I know of has centralized government. How's that related to union we created from our free will (and can leave at pretty much any moment)?
