I've got roughly 75% failure rate with shared urban e-scooters. Roughly 1 in 4 even starts or accelerates. Various cities and countries.
I really like the idea and want to use them but most of them aren't maintained properly and just clutter the streets.

Rent e-scooters or owned ones?
I have roughly 1500 km on my escooter with 2 structural failures, but that's mostly from using it in totally different way, than it was designed.
But it seems like I fixed that with reinforced stem holder.
Never had an electric issue though.

We have a company called Voi operating them where I live and I’ve only had one issue with a scooter. They seem to do a good job of keeping them repaired and maintained.
But we also have to dock them in specific bays - which might make managing them easier. You get fined if you don’t. I think Lime lets you park anywhere - at least that’s how I remember my experience in Prague when I used them a couple of years ago.
